Nigerian writer and novelist, Chimamanda Ngozi-Adichie says she regrets not taking advantage of the opportunity to become an American citizen at the time it presented itself.
She stated this during an interview with Media Personality, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu on Bounce Radio Live.
According to the playwright, Nigeria deeply frustrates her and has made her have a rethink of her decision not to become a US citizen. She also said that she realised years ago that she does not have to love Nigeria.
Speaking further, Chimamanda said that she only owns a Nigerian passport and it was a decision she took years ago because she wanted to truly share in the experience of an average Nigerian.
She then disclosed that she was waiting for former President Donald Trump to leave office so that she can apply to be a US citizen.
