I’ve been a mom for 15yrs. I was 16yrs old when I got pregnant, nobody can shame me–Folasade Adeleke

Folasade Adeleke, the cousin of renowned afrobeats singer and songwriter David Adeleke, recently shared her personal story on the “Say What You Know” podcast. During the episode, Folasade opened up about her life experiences, shedding light on her journey as a young mother.

At 31 years old, Folasade revealed that she has been a mother for 15 years, having become pregnant at the age of 16. She reflected on the challenges she faced during that time, including fear, shame, regret, and neglect, which marked one of the darkest periods of her life.

Folasade emphasized that understanding her identity helped her cope with these challenges. She expressed that self-awareness played a crucial role in overcoming the judgments and difficulties she encountered as a young mother. Throughout her ordeal, Folasade found strength in her faith, attributing her resilience to the support she received from God. This spiritual foundation helped her navigate through her toughest moments and emerge stronger.

In her discussion, Folasade acknowledged that her experiences, though painful, have become a significant part of her testimony. She believes that sharing her story can inspire others who might be going through similar situations, reinforcing the message that one’s past does not define their future.

According to her: “I’m 31 years old, I have been a mother for 15 years. I was 16 years old when I got pregnant, I understand that nobody can shame me if I know who I am, I always tell people, whatever i go through is my testimony. First came fear, then came shame, regret then neglect, sorry I will probably cry. That was my darkest time in my life, through the whole thing God was with me”.
