I‘m Ready To Kneel Down For Senators-Elect To Vote Akpabio — Shettima

 

Vice President Kashim Shettima has appealed to senators-elect to vote a former governor of Akwa Ibom State, Godswill Akpabio, as president of the incoming 10th Senate.

Shettima who spoke at a dinner organised Saturday night to rally support for Senators Akpabio and Jibrin Barau joint ticket said he was ready to kneel down for the senators-elect.

He asserted that the nation would become more united and stable under Akpabio’s leadership in the Senate.

Shettima declared, “I’m prepared to fall to my knees and beg my colleagues to join us for the sake of the stability of the country.”

At the celebration, George Akume, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), and more than 50 incoming senators were present.

Aside from the religious aspect, Senator Akpabio is very competent and has the ability to serve as the leader of the 10th National Assembly, according to Shettima. He is also a Christian and is from an area that is highly significant.

So, the party and, in fact, the president decided to support him in accordance with our nation’s constitution and the plurality of our union. According to Daily trust.

 

Through his conversations with those who had not yet joined their camp, the vice president gave the senators-elect assurance that he was ready to continue to campaign for Akpabio’s election as Senate president.

“Until we deliver them on Tuesday, I will continue my private campaigning for Senators Akpabio and Barau. I have to leave this dinner to speak with certain senators who haven’t pledged their support, he said.

In order for the Tinubu-led administration to get off to a strong start, Akume said that even before he was appointed SGF, he was actively rallying support for the Akpabio-Barau ticket.
