I’ve No Reason To Rest Because Of Election, No Serious Leader Will Go And Rest In Nigeria– Peter Obi

In a publication on Vanguard Newspaper, the former Governor of Anambra State and the presidential candidate of Labour Party, LP, Mr Peter Obi, in the just concluded presidential election, has said that he has no reason to take a rest after the 2023 presidential campaigns and the election that followed, arguing that those who had to rest had their reason for doing so.

The ex-governor stated this while addressing reporters on Monday after visiting the Moslem community in Awka Central Mosque to celebrate the Eid-El Fitri with them.

According to the LP flag bearer, the kinds of problem facing the nation do not warrant her leaders resting because there are many issues requiring consistent attention.

The Anambra-born politician said his visit to the Muslim community in his state has nothing to do with politics because campaign has ended, adding that it is not only when one is seeking political office that he or she should visit people.

He said that there is no need for politics to cause division between a Christian and Muslim, adding that he has not seen any road that is built and is only for Muslims to drive on or a market where Christians buy bread cheaper than a Muslim.

The 61-year-old also said that the biggest church in Dubai was donated by leader of the country who is a Muslim and the Queen of England who is the head of the church in England donated a mosque to the Muslims in the European country.

He said, “When I told people that I will start fighting poverty from the north, some people said that the North is not poorer than South and that since I’m from the South, I should start here.

The ex-governor further said that the North has the vast land needed to solve the problem of poverty in the country.
