Why I declared Tinubu the winner despite not having 25% of the vote in the FCT—INEC Chairman reveals

According to a source from Vanguard News Online the Independent National Electoral Commission has finally explained why it selected Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress as the victor of the presidential election on February 25 despite the fact that he received less than 25% of the vote in the federal capital region.

Remember how some President-elect detractors said that Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s victory should not have been recognized because he fell short of the statutory 25 percent in the federal capital region?

Former governor of Lagos state and national head of the All Progressives Congress Bola Ahmed Tinubu defeated other front-runners such Peter Obi of the Labor Party, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party, and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party.

In response to the development, INEC stated via its attorney B. Mahmoud that the FCT has the status of a state and should be recognized as one of the states of the federation in accordance with the provisions of the 1999 Constitution.
