Veteran Nigerian actress, Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde has revealed that she declined the invitation to be present in the 2023 Oscars; the 95th Academy Awards ceremony held by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences which took place on 12th March, 2023 at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, honoring films released in 2022.
The veteran actress however disclosed that she chose to stay back in her country, Nigeria and play her own role in seeing to the pressing issues at hand at the moment which needs the most focus.
Omotola also revealed that this is the first year she got invited to the Oscars, and she chose patriotism for her country instead over the invitation. She further stated that there is time for everything. Omotola wrote:
“Nigeria first. Oscar season can wait. Focus Omotola.. focus.. no fomo. First year I get invited and I follow patriotism. There’s time for everything.. phew!”
