As Nigerians are preparing for the February 25th general elections, it is interesting to know that some of the actors in the Nigerian movie industry who got into politics are also contesting for one political post or the other.

 

 

This article will be showing you some Nollywood stars who are contesting in the 2023 elections, the post they are contesting for and also their political party.

1. Femi Branch

 

 

Nollywood actor, Femi Branch, is the running mate to the Ogun State gubernatorial candidate, Tofunmi Ogunronbi of the National Rescue Movement (NRM).

The actor announced this on his social media page on Saturday, the 16th of July, 2022.

2. Funke Akindele

 

 

Nigerian actress, Funke Akindele, also known as Jennifer, is the deputy governor candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for Lagos State.

She is the running mate of Azeez Olajide Adediran, a journalist, entrepreneur and philanthropist popularly known as Jandor.

3. Banky W

 

 

Singer and actor, Olubankole Wellington, popularly known as Banky W, is running for the office of the House Of Representative, Eti-Osa federal consistuency of Lagos under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

4. Caroline Hutchings

 

 

Nigerian actress, Caroline Hutchings, is the running mate to Iboro Otu, the governorship candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) in Akawa Ibom State.

5. Desmond Eliot

 

 

Nollywood actor and politician, Desmond Eliot, is running for an office in the Lagos State House of Assembly, Surulere Constituency. He won the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket for a third term.

6. Tonto Dikeh

 

 

Nollywood actress, Tonto Dikeh, is the running mate to Tonte Ibraye, the 2023 governorship candidate of the African Democratic Party (ADC) in Rivers State.
