Queen Elizabeth II’s coffin arrives in Edinburgh

The Queen’s coffin has arrived at Edinburgh’s Palace of Holyroodhouse after being met by thousands of people on the city’s Royal Mile.

The funeral cortege has now traveled six hours from Balmoral Castle.

Onlookers cheered and threw floral tributes in the path of the cortege.

On Tuesday, the coffin will be flown to London, and the Queen will lie in state at Westminster Hall beginning on Wednesday.

The Queen’s funeral will be held in Westminster Abbey on Monday 19 September.

Charles III was proclaimed King at an elaborate ceremony on Saturday, with further proclamations taking place in UK nations.
