Toyin Lawani, a popular Nigerian entrepreneur and brand ambassador has revealed that she once broke up with one of her ex-boyfriends after he insisted that she will not work despite having a university degree. Toyin disclosed this in an exclusive interview with Chude Jideonwo.
According to her, she got admission to study at the University Of Lagos after she moved to Ibadan when one of her uncles impregnated her. Toyin stated that she was traumatised by the incident but her aunty was the one who comforted her at that time.
After she graduated from the University Of Lagos, she dated a very rich man for some years but their relationship hit the rock after he told her that she would not work when they get married. Toyin revealed that following their breakup, she had to move to a hotel room with her daughter because she didn’t have anywhere to stay.
“My dad disowned me at 14. My mum died at 46 from cancer. I started my life at 16, at which time I had three shops in UNILAG. When I left my rich ex who said I couldn’t work, I was sleeping in a hotel with my daughter.” She stated.
