The Red side of Manchester reported to duty today ahead of their first preseason game in July. Manchester United players not on summer holidays made it to the Carrington Training Complex where they were to meet with their new boss,Erik ten Hag.
A record number of players,both first team players and academy players turned up for the training session which reportedly lasted for 2 straight hours at the Carrington Training Complex.
The players will hit off in the first week of July with a stretch of preseason games,with a clash against Liverpool at Bangkok starting the streak of the schedule that will follow later. Let’s take a quick look at the list of schedule below;
With new signings yet to be completed at Manchester United,the excitement of resuming for preseason games are not so high yet,but the players will hopefully fall into line in the following weeks,new signings or no new signings.
Here are three things we noticed from Manchester United’s first training session with Erik ten Hag at the Carrington Training Complex;
1. Players on loan return to the club
Top players like Donny Van de Beek, Anthony Martial, Facundo Pellistri,Amad Diallo and Brandon Williams who were sent on loan to Everton,Sevilla,Deportivo Alaves, Rangers and Norwich City all returned to the club in today’s training session.
A few other players who were not given enough chance to prove themselves before being shipped to other clubs were also present today.
2. Players asked to leave the club still in the team’s squad as they showed up for training
A few players from Manchester United’s current squad like Aaron Wan-bissaka had been bluntly told by Erik ten Hag even before the commencement of today’s training session that he was not in yeh club’s plans for the new season.
He (Aaron Wan-bissaka) nonetheless showed up to today’s training session alongside other players who were told to find a new club soon, giving the impression that Erik ten Hag may yet access them a second time before making a final verdict on them.
A few top players like Cristiano Ronaldo,Bruno Fernandes,Alex Telles, Fred and Harry Maguire were all conspicuously missing for the first training session of their new boss today at the Carrington Training Complex, especially with the transfer rumors surrounding Cristiano Ronaldo’s stay at Old Trafford for next season.
