German midfielder, Toni Kroos, has highlighted advantages Real Madrid could gain from Lionel Messi’s exit from Barcelona.
According to him, the Argentine superstar’s exit would give Real upper hands over Barcelona and it could also open the door for Kylian Mbappe to join Real Madrid.
Messi left the Catalan side after a 21-year career at Camp Nou at the start of the month.
The club’s board announced that they were unable to re-sign the 6-time Ballon d’Or winner due to their ongoing struggle to get below La Liga’s current wage limit.
Following Messi’s arrival at PSG, Mbappe is said to be demanding an exit from the Paris based club as talks over a new contract stall.
And believes Mbappe could be making his way to Real Madrid, with it his belief that Messi’s move to PSG could end up working in the Blancos’ favour in a number of different ways.
“We’ll see how it all works out (Messi to PSG). Maybe the move is good for us because our biggest competitor has lost their best player,” he told his brother on their joint podcast Einfach mal luppen.
“And maybe even more good things will come out of it as a result. Maybe [a player] from Paris joins us… If that (Mbappe joining Madrid) should actually happen – I don’t know – this whole Messi deal would certainly not be a disadvantage for us.”
