Sadio Mane responds to wedding jokes after marrying 19-year-old Aisha Tamba

According to Metro, Sadio Mane has joked about his secret wedding after marrying 19-year-old Aisha Tamba in Senegal last weekend.

After leaving Bayern Munich in the summer of last year, the 31-year-old now plays for Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia. Throughout his playing career, he has revealed very little about his personal life.

The former forward for Liverpool also caught a lot of people off guard last Sunday when he posed for pictures at his wedding in Dakar, the capital of Senegal, a week before his team’s Africa Cup of Nations campaign arrived.

Aisha, Mane’s wife, is not well-known since she does not use social media and the couple has never been photographed together in public. However, it is believed that she was born in the same area of Senegal in the southwest as her husband.

While Mane has been single for several years, he has been made fun of on social media in his native country. However, the two-time African Footballer of the Year made a lighthearted joke to a fan as he posed for pictures with fans the day after his wedding.

After being congratulated, Mane said with a smile: ‘Thank you for the messages, except that all single people must now leave Senegal!’

During the customary farewell to the national team prior to the commencement of their Africa Cup of Nations competition, Macky Sall, the president of Senegal, also made light of Mane’s recent marriage.

‘First of all, I would like to warmly congratulate our national Nianthi, Sadio Mane, who has just got married… I called him up so that we could applaud him and wish him a happy marriage,’ Sall said.

‘May God bless your home and your descendants. From now on you have another job apart from scoring goals.’

Sall’s reference to Mane as ‘Nianthi’ is a name that means lion and warrior in southern Senegalese dialect.

Mane will now concentrate on Senegal’s Africa Cup of Nations campaign, which kicks off on Monday against the Gambia.

In Group C, the defending AFCON champions will also face Cameroon and Gambia.
