Qatari club offers to pay €100m yearly to be called Barca

A club in Qatar are offering to pay Barcelona €100m per year to use Barca’s naming right as part of their franchise, according to Tot Costa.

Barcelona needs money right now which makes the offer even more tempting for the club.

Last week Joan Laporta took a trip to Qatar where he met with bigwigs of the Qatari league.

If Barca agrees to the franchise proposal, the financial inflow could be monumental for Barcelona in terms of signing and registering players.

This summer, Barcelona have been told they have to offload players to lighten their wage bill before they can register new ones.

Even with La Liga adjusting their strict Financial Fair Play rules this week, Barca still has to find a way to lower their wage bill. The Qatar deal could provide a lifeline now or next summer.
