Thomas Tuchel opens up on what is wrong with the Bayern Munich squad for their poor performance.

Bayern Munich were demoted to second place in the Bundesliga League yesterday after losing 3-1 to Mainz 05, who are 6th on the table. This is coming right after Bayern were eliminated from the Champions League quarterfinal by Manchester City on an aggregate of 4-1.

The first goal of the match was in the 29th minute, when Cancelo gave in an amazing cross from the left wing and into the center of the Mainz defense. Sadio Mane was there to put it in, giving them the early lead. At these moments, things looked bright for them. Things stopped looking bright for the Die Bayern squad in the second half of the match, despite dominantly controlling every aspect of the match. In the 65th minute, Ludovic Ajorque put one in for Mainz after a defensive disruption in the Bayern box. He was able to capitalize on it and equalize. 73 minutes in, Leandro Barreiro put another in after being assisted by Onisiwo. Six minutes later, Mainz made it three after A. Martin put in an impressive shot from the left wing into the post. It was a shocking moment, as the game ended 3-1 in favor of the home team.

After the match, Tuchel spoke on why the team had such a poor performance. Tuchel on Bayern’s terrible moment: “We have no energy; I don’t know why.” It’s so difficult. “The team looks like they have already played 70 games this season.” “We’re not awake; we’re exhausted.”

Thomas Tuchel was hired early this year after Julian Nagelsmann was sacked as Bayern Munich manager. They are now second on the table after yesterday’s loss and Dortmund’s win over Eintracht Frankfurt. Dortmund sits first with 60 points, followed by Bayern Munich with 59 points.
