The home of Dauda Kahutu, a popular singer for the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Kano State, has been set on fire by thugs who have not been caught.
The thugs, who are said to be members of the Kwankwasiyya group and supporters of the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) presidential candidate Rabiu Kwankwaso, broke into the home of Mr. Kahutu, also known as Rarara, on Zoo Road while they were celebrating the success of the NNPP’s governorship candidate, Abba Kabir, during the governorship election in the state.
Reports say that the singer was not around when the incident happened.
Abdullahi Kiyawa, a spokesman for the police in Kano, said that the police are patrolling the city to make sure that law and order are maintained. He also asked political leaders to stop making statements that could cause trouble.
Mr. Kiyawa asked the people of the state to follow the curfew that had been put in place earlier. He also warned that law enforcement officials are looking for criminals who want to hurt innocent people and steal their things.
The police said that the election was over, and now security is worried about how people will celebrate the election win.
“It’s important to remember that celebrations should always be respectful, and keep in mind that the people celebrating are open to everyone, no matter their politics, religion, or culture.”
Mr. Kiyawa said, “Because of these things, the Police Command is asking the good people of the state to follow the rules about gatherings and celebrations of election wins.”
“The party leaders are also expected to stop using hate speech or acting unfairly towards people or groups who didn’t vote for the winning candidate or party,” the police said.
