‘Tonye Cole Is Not A Pastor, How Can A Pastor Steal 50 Million US Dollars At Once?’ – Wike

The Governor of Rivers state, Nyesom Wike has alleged that governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Tonye Cole is still being prosecuted by the state over an alleged money embezzlement of 50 million US dollars. Wike alleged that Tonye Cole and the former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi colluded to steal the funds of the state.

He explained further that three gas turbines built by Peter Odili were allegedly sold by Amaechi to a company in which Tonye Cole is the manager. Wike contended that Rivers state will fight the case till the end until they recover back the funds. Wike frowned at the assertion that Tonye Cole is a Pastor, he argued that politicians should stop bringing religion into politics just because they want to run for an elective office.

He said, ”Tonye is not a pastor, why should a Pastor steal 50 million US dollars at once? That is what I don’t like in Nigeria, anyone who wants to run for office becomes Pastor automatically, and they will begin to speak in tongues. It’s not good, leave the ministry for the real Pastors. Don’t use the pastoral image to scam our people.

You call him a Pastor but we are prosecuting him and Amaechi for stealing Rivers state money. Doctor Peter Odili built three gas turbines for us to have electricity in Rivers state, Amaechi went ahead to sell it to Sahara where Tonye Cole is the head. And that is what they want to cover up by allowing Tonye Cole to come into power. If you convert that money to naira, that is 35 billion naira.”
