Manchester United Made A Mistake By Paying €100million To Sign Antony From Ajax Last Summer

The hefty price tag of €100million, an equivalent of £86million, that Manchester United paid for Brazilian Winger Antony last summer was placed under a microscopic lens last weekend after the terrible performance of the Former Ajax Winger against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Antony had a great start at Manchester United, scoring in consecutive appearance for the Red Devils including a League goal on his debut but, his form in recent games has been declining and Fans have spotted the dip in the performance of the Brazilian National.

You watch Antony playing and then you wonder why Manchester United was persistent on signing him last summer to the extent of paying €100million because he’s definitely not worth that amount of money.

He lacks the necessary speed to beat a Player in one-on-one encounter, and because he depends hugely on his left-foot, his right-foot is virtually useless. He doesn’t have an explosive Speed which is a great quality in Wingers and he’s not heavily-built.

Of course, he’s a great dribbler and a creator but Antony is not a Player that can send Manchester United to the top level because his personal ability to reach World class level depends on how good Manchester United can improve themselves generally.

Antony’s ability to thrive in Manchester United’s games depends on how much the Red Devils dominate the game and control the ball through pressing and passing. If they have to be involved in a chaotic game, then Antony is never going to get better.
