Arsene Wenger Brilliantly Explained The Difference Between Messi And Ronaldo.

Arsene Wenger once shared his amazing insight into the Cristiano Ronaldo vs. Lionel Messi debate.

The debate over who is the best between this duo seems to be eternal. Wenger says that while the Portuguese are sportsmen, the Argentinians are touch artists. Speaking to SoFoot in 2020, Wenger said (via the Mirror):

“I often say that Cristiano Ronaldo is a football player and an athlete, and Lionel Messi is an exceptional artist; that’s the difference between the two.” Then everyone likes one or the other. “When you like the game, we like the artist more.” “Creativity makes you discover things you haven’t seen, you haven’t even considered from the stands.”

He added:

“It’s a better [creative style], although I don’t deny the Portuguese star’s qualities.” I just believe that football has evolved in Ronaldo’s style. That doesn’t mean we are. Creativity must be eliminated. “The rule must evolve to make the game more spectacular, more beautiful to watch.”

Lionel Messi is still in Argentina following his country’s victory at the 2022 FIFA World Cup. He is expected to return to Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in early January. The Parisians won their clash with Strasbourg in Ligue 1 without the 35-year-old, thanks to Kylian Mbappe’s final goal. PSG are currently at the top of the Ligue 1 standings and have also reached the knockout stages of the UEFA Champions League. They are ready to face the upcoming Bayern Munich. Cristiano Ronaldo, meanwhile, remains without a club after the two sides terminated his contract with Manchester United last month following an explosive interview with Piers Morgan. He has been closely linked with a move to Saudi Arabia. The Saudi side is Al Nassr. However, the 37-year-old still wants to play at the highest level and is looking to join a top European club.
