David de Gea ‘OUT of World Cup as Man Utd star fails to make Spain’s 55-man preliminary squad

Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea is set to miss the 2022 World Cup in Qatar which will be kicking off next month.

The Spanish goalkeeper is set to miss the world cup after reportedly failing to make the Spain 55-man preliminary squad. Spain boss Luis Enrique has reportedly sent off the list to FIFA, from which his 26-man squad will be selected.

However, De Gea has been left out of Spain’s squad for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar despite being a regular starter and his performance for his club Manchester United this season. According to a report from AS, Spain manager Luis Enrique has selected 5 players from each position yet there is no room for De Gea to feature in the tournament.

However, Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga makes the list for the squad but is believed to be a back up goalkeeper for Luis Enrique. Though the shot stopper has returned to his best of form for Chelsea in recent weeks but the spain manager prefers Brentford goalkeeper David Raya.

Brighton goalkeeper Robert Sanchez also makes the list alongside with Manchester United transfer target Unai Simon who currently plays as a goalkeeper for Athletic Bilbao.

De Gea is currently out of favour with Spain national team and could experience that at his current club Manchester United. The 31-year-old goalkeeper will be out of contract with the Red Devils next summer, and although De Gea has been a regular starter for Manchester United this season, but the red devils’ manager Erik Ten Hag is still searching for a new goalkeepers.
