Nigeria has qualified for the semi-finals of the U-17 World Cup after defeating the USA in the quarterfinals. The USA were defeated by the Flamingos in a penalty shootout, which ended in a 4-3 win for Nigeria. The match ended in a 1-1 draw and was later decided in a penalty shootout.
However, after the final whistle was blown, some players became emotional as they couldn’t hold back their tears towards the outcome of the match.
One of the USA players that lost the penalty broke down in tears as she apologised to the fans for their loss.
Some Nigeria players also shed tears of joy, while others jubilated over their win. Nigeria will proceed to the semifinal stage to play against Colombia or Tanzania. A winner from either of the two countries will face Nigeria in the semifinals.
