The Ballon D’or award ceremony has come and gone and Real Madrid striker, Karim Benzema won the award for the first time in his career
The France International finished in first place ahead of Senegalese forward, Sadio Mane who came second
However, the margin at which he won, is the second biggest win in the history of the award, only topped by Cristiano Ronaldo’s win by 429 votes in 2016.
Benzema polled 549 votes after he hit 44 goals across all competitions for Real Madrid last season, as they won LaLiga and the UEFA Champions League.
