Chelsea were active in the English Premier League yesterday when they travelled to face Brentford at the Brentford Community Stadium in what was indeed an intense game of football. The Blues struggled to find their strength offensively as they played an unconvincing goalless draw against a vibrant Brentford who also showed their intentions of winning the game.
Well, there are two mistakes Graham Potter made in the match which resulted in Chelsea’s disappointing draw against Brentford. Let’s take a look.
1, Not Starting His Best 11 In The Game.
Graham Potter has shown he is the type of manager who doesn’t stick to a particular set of players as he made a few changes to his starting lineup against Brentford. The English International started the likes of Armando Broja and Conor Gallagher that will normally be on Chelsea’s bench until their services are needed in the second half. Armando Broja showed some glimpses of inexperience in the match as he made some wrong decisions and also missed a few chances that an experienced striker like Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang could have easily converted. Graham Potter needs to stop the gamble and learn to play his best eleven always depending on the importance of the game.
2, Making Late Substitutions.
The English Manager made some late substitutions for Chelsea in the game which could have impacted the team’s performance if they were made a bit early. A player like Kai Havertz who wasn’t at his best performance in the game shouldn’t even have started the second half but Graham Potter decided to let him play for 80 minutes against Brentford. Players like Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang and Christian Pulisic should have been brought in earlier as they could have had a better chance of changing the game.
