CAF celebrates Sadio Mane after becoming first player in history to win ‘Socrates’ Ballon D’or award

 

 

The Confederation of Africa Football CAF has celebrated Senegal national team star Sadio Mane after becoming the first player in history to win ‘Socrates’ Ballon D’or award.

 

 

The former Southampton football club star had a remarkable spell at Liverpool football club last season and he was able to win two trophies with the club before joining Bayern Munich football club of Germany.

Apart from his achievement with Liverpool football club, Sadio Mane also won the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations with Senegal national team and he was voted the best player of the tournament.

 

 

Sadio Mane has been able to help a lot of people on and off the pitch and his excellent performance made the Ballon D’or award organizers to give him the ‘Socrates’ Ballon D’or award, which is meant for player with ‘heart of gold’.

Sadio Mane was also named Africa footballer of the year by CAF months ago and he came second in the FIFA Ballon D’or award, behind Real Madrid football club star Karim Benzema who won the award for the first time in his career, following his outstanding performance for Real Madrid football club and France national team.
