Ancelotti reveals what he did differently than last season that made Madrid beat Barcelona

The 250th El Clásico was a beautiful match with over 700 million viewers around the world, and it lived up to its expectation. The match was different from the last competitive match at the Santiago Bernabéu, when the current Champions suffered a 4-0 defeat in the hands of Barcelona.

While Barcelona celebrated the win aggressively last season and even Pique said, “We are back”, Ancelotti feels he actually made a mistake which he corrected in the 3-1 recent win. He revealed this after the El Clásico.

“I thought about last season, that I invented something, but in this game I tried not to invent and to put the players in their place.” Last season the team was without Benzema and Alaba who were out injured, Ancelotti’s experiment to use players where they didn’t fit didn’t work out, and it led to the defeat.

This time around, he put his usual starting 11 aside the injured Courtios and departed Casemiro and Barcelona suffered a defeat for the 6th time in 8 competitive games against Los Blancos.
