German Bundesliga defending Champions Bayern Munich traveled to Signal Iduna Park for their 9th league game of the season against top rival Dortmund. The Bavarians took a 2-0 lead in the game with goals from Leon Goretzka and Leroy Sane in the first and second halves respectively.
Dortmund took advantage of the 10-man Bayern Münich squad and got their equalizer in the 95th minute. The game ended in a 2-2 scoreline with Munich players holding grudges against the referee of the game. Despite starting their newly signed star player Sadio Mane, and Thomas Muller upfront in the derby fixture, the visiting team failed to keep the Senegalese in the game until the final whistle.
With the game getting heated after Dortmund’s first goal in the 74th minute, Julian Nagelsmann substituted former Liverpool forward and AFCON winner Sadio Mane for Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting who has failed to find his form after a couple of games this season.
Dortmund capitalized on the absence of Sadio Mane 8 minutes of the game as things slowed down more with Kingsley Coman seeing a second yellow card. The Senegalese international was substituted in the 82nd minute and that was a wrong call from Julian Nagelsmann as his decision negatively affected the Bavarian’s play in the remaining minutes of the game.
