Graham Potter Decides On Edouard Mendy Fate As Kepa Arrizabalaga Records First Back To Back Clean Sheet Since 2021

Edouard Mendy was once again left on the sideline as Kepa Arrizabalaga bagged another clean sheet with Chelsea beating Wolves 3-0 on Saturday

Kepa Arrizabalaga was in-between the sticks for the second time to record another clean sheet following Chelsea’s home win against Wolverhampton on Saturday.

The Spaniard lost his place to Edouard Mendy since the Senegalese made his debut for Chelsea under Frank Lampard.

Although he was in a slippery form back then, Tuchel may have not given him enough chance on the pitch but the two consecutive times he was let to be on, Kepa conceded even against Leicester to deny Chelsea the FA Cup.

Graham Potter who recently arrived has been working to bring the squad together and make the best out of what he inherited from Thomas Tuchel whose sack announcement came as a big shock.

Potter is keen on handing every member of the squad enough opportunity to prove they worth being in the starting eleven.

Edouard Mendy’s lack of game time will not be for a longer time if only he puts on a good show when his opportunity comes with Potter currently relying on Kepa Arrizabalaga for now.

Sources around the club believe Mendy will still return to the post for Chelsea as long as he continues working hard but having been on for quite a long time, Potter deemed it fit to hand an opportunity to Kepa Arrizabalaga.

Kepa on the other hand has been working hard enough to immediately impress their new boss who could still prefer having him in the goal against AC Milan on Tuesday.

Currently the first keeper choice is open to the both Goalies and who gets more game time depends on impresses Graham Potter more, both on the training ground and on the pitch.
