Casemiro has completed his transfer to Manchester united In a deal worth a total package of 70.6 million Euros. This made Casemiro the second most expensive player in the list of the most expensive players who were aged 30 or older. The Brazilian winger who is already 30 years would be contracted to Manchester united for the next four years. However, when Cristiano Ronaldo moved to Juventus in the 2018/19 season, the Serie-A giants paid Real Madrid a total fee of 117 million Euros.
Asides Ronaldo and Casemiro, other players in this category who were signed for over 40 million Euros includes Pjanic, Lewandowski, Paulinho and Bonucci. Most of these players completed their transfer move in the 2022 summer transfer window. Kalidou Koulibaly who joined Chelsea has scored for his club, while Lewandowski who joined Barcelona is yet to score the club. Most clubs hardly make a move for players who are aged 30 or older.
Most of these players are believe to be very close to retirement age and are seen as short term options. Any club who wants to invests for the future will not sign players in this category, as they believe that the player can only play for a few years and then retire.
