Kai Havertz Might Face The Same Fate As Timo Werner If He Flops This Season

The duo of Timo Werner and Kai Havertz both cost Chelsea around £120million when the West London club signed them from the German Bundesliga in 2020. After a wonderful performance in the 2019/20 Season, Chelsea board went all out and gun-blazing to invest in the squad so that Frank Lampard can have more elite Players to work with.Kai Havertz and Timo Werner were a result of that investment as Chelsea beat Liverpool to the signing of Timo Werner who joined for a fee of £47.5million while Kai Havertz joined Chelsea for around £73million from Bayer Leverkusen.

It took the duo a lot of time to settle in their new environment but Chelsea were getting pounded on the pitch as a result of their struggling Signings, which eventually led to the retrenchment of Frank Lampard.

Thomas Tuchel came in and most Chelsea Fans thought things were going to be different, and it did, for a while, but it didn’t last long. A summer after signing Timo Werner, Chelsea had to break the bank once again to sign Romelu Lukaku, which also turned out to be a bad investment.

Before the end of last season, Timo Werner had been pushing to leave Chelsea with his agent offering him to clubs across the European Top-flight Leagues. The Blues would eventually place him on the chopping block as Thomas Tuchel aim at clearing out his Offense.

Timo Werner has completed a permanent transfer to Rb Leipzig just two seasons after Chelsea signed him from the same club. The 26-year-old was able to score just 23 goals for Chelsea during his two seasons at the Club. Kai Havertz is not any better than Timo Werner as he has also scored 23 goals since he joined Chelsea but no one is talking about selling him or loaning him out because he’s younger.

However, the German Forward has this season to prove himself. The 2022/23 Season is it for him, if he fails to stay consistent this season, Chelsea might consider an exit for him next summer because they won’t want to offer him a new contract and they will also want to avoid losing him to the free transfer.
