I Was Among The Passengers Meant To Be On Kaduna Train But Was Saved By A Phone Call -Obi Of Onitsha

According to a report by Nation, the Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Nnaemeka Alfred Achebe, on Saturday stated that a phone call saved him from boarding the ill-fated Abuja-Kaduna train that was attacked by bandits on Monday. He said, “I was among the passengers meant to be on the train last Monday because I had a meeting I was supposed to be attending. I was already at the train station when I got a call over an emergency and I had to leave the station to attend to it”. The monarch decried the increasing insecurity situation in the country.

This is to tell how God saves people from attacks and misfortunes. The paramount ruler was saved by just a phone call, if not he might have been among the people that will be been attacked by the bandits on Monday because the bandits were targeting high-profile Nigerians on the train. A situation that Nigerians are still morning because of the caliber of people that were kidnapped by the bandits.

To date, the bandits have not been apprehended by the security agencies except that the attack has led to different conjectures among Nigerians including the leaders. We must also understand that government is not just the presidency. Are the other agencies of government, ministries, commissions & other arms of government – the legislature & judiciary, as well as other tiers of government – state & LGAs fulfilling their security responsibilities to the nation? Is the federal government of Nigeria doing its best in its primary responsibility of protecting citizens & their properties?
