Current EPL table & Match review after Chelsea lost 4-1 and Man City, Liverpool both won 2-0

Chelsea hosted Brentford at the Stamford bridge stadium in a crucial Premier league game on Saturday afternoon.

The blues were looking to pick off from where they left off before the International break but knew they faced a daunting task in negotiating their way past London rivals Brentford.

Thomas Tuchel side were dominant throughout the opening half of the game although the blues were unable to find their way past Brentford’s defence with David Raya denying the home side a couple of times.

The blues returned to the second half with more intent in the final third and they were dully rewarded after Antonio Rudiger hit a long range stunner to give the blues the lead in the game.

Well that lead didn’t last long though as Brentford equalised less than two minutes later as Vitaly Janelt finished off a fine counter attack.

The away side took the lead in a dramatic turn of events four minutes after their equaliser with Christian Eriksen finishing another quick counter attack after a fine run from Mbeumo.

Thomas Frank’s men doubled their lead on the hour mark as Vitaly Janelt dunked the ball past Edouard Mendy after finding himself one on one with the Senegalese Goalkeeper. Brentford added a late fourth through substitute Yoane Wissa as the away team secured a huge 4-1 win against their London rivals.

Elsewhere, Manchester City and Liverpool secured easy wins against Burnley and Watford respectively as both sides continued their battle for the EPL title.
