German Bundesliga Club Borussia Dortmund has been quite radioactive for many top European clubs in the last 4 seasons in the UEFA Champions League and Europa League.
In the 2018/19 season, Tottenham Hotspurs defeated Borussia Dortmund by 3-0 and 1-0 in First leg and second leg of the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 respectively. Tottenham Hotspur later went all the way to reach the Final of the UEFA Champions League that season after eliminating Borussia Dortmund in the Round of 16 but, the North London club lost the final to Liverpool.
In the 2019/20 season, PSG knocked Borussia Dortmund out of the UEFA Champions League in the Round of 16. Borussia Dortmund won the first leg by 2-1 in Germany but PSG thrashed them 2-0 in the second leg to qualify on aggregate. PSG reached the final of UEFA Champions League that season but, they lost to Bayern Munich.
In the following season which was the 2020/21 Season, Chelsea defeated Manchester City in the final of the UEFA Champions League in Porto to clinch their second ever UEFA Champions League trophy. Manchester City beat Borussia Dortmund both at home and away in the Quarterfinals of the UEFA Champions League that season. The Citizens later lost to Chelsea in the Final.
Last season, Borussia Dortmund were knocked out of the UEFA Europa league by Rangers. Rangers reached the final that season but they also lost the title as Frankfurt defeated them to win it.
In case you haven’t connected the pattern, allow me to point it out to you. All the teams that were responsible for the elimination of Borussia Dortmund in the UEFA Champions and Europa league in the last 4 consecutive seasons later went all the way to the Final in that season and lost it. It happened to Tottenham Hotspurs, PSG, Manchester City and Rangers in 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022 respectively.
