Osimhen Fought With Uzoho At The Hotel Not On The Training Pitch – Peseiro’s Assistant Tells It All

Surprisingly, according to Super Eagles assistant coach Jose Peseiro, who spoke with OwnGoalNigeria, the altercation between Victor Osimhen and Francis Uzoho did not take place on the training pitch but rather in the team hotel.

 

 

According to the assistant, the violent confrontation between Uzoho and Ahmed Musa began when Osimhen interrupted a meeting between Peseiro, Uzoho, and Musa 48 hours before the friendly match against Guinea. The assistant claims that the custodian angryly reacted when Osimhen accused Uzoho of being dishonest.

As things started to go south, Osimhen’s emotions took over, and his teammates and the backroom personnel had to intervene to assist him calm down. This was not a meeting at the practice pitch, but rather in the team hotel, the assistant explained.

Osimhen accused Uzoho of being dishonest and interrupted Musa and Peseiro as they were speaking. We prevented the situation from getting out of hand by defusing it at the last possible moment. Additionally, the assistant said that Osimhen’s behaviour was unexpected and that the entire crew was shocked by what happened.

There is evidence that Gernot Rohr, Osimhen’s coach at the time, intervened in a dispute between him and Leon Balogun in 2019, adding to the list of claimed confrontations involving Osimhen. Since the news broke, many have wondered if the team’s dynamics impacted their play in the Africa Cup of Nations.
