Cristiano Ronaldo reached another milestone on Boxing Day as Al Nassr secured an emphatic victory over Al Ittihad in the Saudi Professional League.
The fixture that lined up some of the biggest names in world football like Sadio Mane, Karim Benzema, Ngolo Kante, Fabinho, and Ronaldo did not fail to live up to expectations as seven goals were scored in the encounter.
Despite going a goal down in the game, Ronaldo’s Al Nassr rallied back to a 5-2 victory away from home as they continued their league title pursuit. The five-time Ballon d’Or scored a brace on the night, both goals coming from the penalty mark, one in each half.
His two goals on the night took Ronaldo’s goals tally in 2023 to 53, making him the highest goal scorer of the year currently with 53 goals from 58 matches in 2023. He has now scored more goals in 2023 than Kylian Mbappe, Harry Kane and Erling Haaland.
The fixture also saw Mane bag a brace for the away side. Meanwhile, Benzema got an assist for his team, but former Liverpool star Fabinho received his marching orders after two yellow cards.
