Roma boss Jose Mourinho had to get a ballboy to pass on a note to his goalkeeper Rui Patricio during the late stages of their 1-1 Serie A draw with Fiorentina.

It was Roma who got off the mark first, producing a superb team effort that resulted in Romelu Lukaku heading home to make it 1-0. However, the game was flipped on its head on 64 minutes when Nicola Zalewski was sent off and Lucas Martínez Quarta equalised two minutes later.

With Mourinho and co hanging on for dear life, things went from bad to worse on 87 minutes, when Lukaku was then handed a straight red card for a shocking challenge on Fiorentina’s Christian Kouamé, leaving Roma with nine-men to finish the contest.

And as chaos rained down upon the Stadio Olimpico, Mourinho had to get a ballboy to pass on a note to his goalkeeper, ex-Wolves star Rui Patricio, which presumably had instructions on it for how Roma should see out the game. Thankfully, despite the two red cards for Roma, they managed to escape from the clash against Fiorentina with a point, the contest finishing 1-1.

Shockingly, a third red card was also handed out too, with Nikola Milenkovic sent off for Fiorentina in injury-time. And fans on social media certainly enjoyed seeing Mourinho hand the ballboy the note on the touchline, which was passed on to Patricio.
