the Premier League was back in action, treating us to two exciting fixtures. Here’s the match review for these games and the current league table.
* Nottingham Forest 2-0 Aston Villa
Nottingham Forest ended a six-game losing streak with a 2-0 victory over Villa at the City Ground. Aina scored a spectacular goal within the first five minutes to get the hosts off to a flying start. Aston Villa rallied back, but despite their best attempts, they were unable to break through the home defence for the remainder of the first half. After the restart, Watkins tested Vlachodimos with a good shot, but it was Nottingham who doubled their lead in the 47th minute, thanks to Mangala. Villa made a valiant comeback attempt, but Nottingham Forest’s defence held fast. Nottingham Forest had won 2-0 and all three points as the final whistle blew.
* Luton Town 1-1 Liverpool
Liverpool were fortunate to pick up a point at Luton Town today. Both teams played beautifully in the first half, with Nunez getting near following an excellent pass from Alexander-Arnold, and Barkley’s effort being saved by Alisson at the other end. The second half appeared to be heading for a goalless draw until Tahith Chong broke the deadlock in the 80th minute to give the hosts the lead. Their delight, however, was short-lived as substitute Luis Diaz scored a spectacular header in stoppage time to ensure that the visitors took a share of the spoils.
