La Liga: Xavi Hails Bellingham After Barcelona’s 2-1 Loss To Real Madrid

Barcelona’s unbeaten start to the 2023/24 season in all competitions has come to an end after their heartbreaking loss to Real Madrid in the first El Clasico of the campaign at the Montjuïc Olympic Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

German international, Ilkay Gundogan gave the Barcelona an early lead in the match, but second-half goals from Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham gave visitors the deserved win over the home side.

After the game, Barcelona boss Xavi hailed Bellingham for his performance in the match, but claimed that his team deserved to win the tie, according to Barca Universal.

“Bellingham is in a state of grace. Every ball falls to him, every rebound… He’s very confident right now because everything is going his way,” he said.

“Bellingham is a great footballer of course, and he made the difference. In the second goal, he runs late into the box, and we had talked about that play before the match. It’s our mistake when defending.

“Honestly, I think we deserved to win, but this is what happens when you miss chances against Real Madrid.

“Maybe I’m exaggerating a little at first review, but I think we deserved the victory. We should have scored the 2-0, and if you don’t, Real Madrid will kill you.”
