Owen Hargreaves says Arsenal have 2 ‘diamond’ players who can ‘beat anyone in the world’

Owen Hargreaves has stated that Arsenal duo Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka can beat ‘anyone in the world’ one-v-one, unlike the wide men on Manchester United’s flank.

On Sunday, Marcus Rashford and Antony started out wide for Manchester United, with the English star opening the scoring.

Equally, Gabriel Martinelli also had a say in the game by providing an assist for Martin Odegaard’s instant equaliser, with Hargreaves calling the young Arsenal star a ‘diamond’, alongside Bukayo Saka , as he told Premier League Productions(04/09/23 at 2:15 pm).

Last season, both of Arsenal’s widemen hit double-figure goals, with Saka supplying 11 assists to boot – interestingly enough, it was claimed that one Manchester United was ‘scared’ of Saka at the Emirates.

It saw the duo receive high praise as they pushed Manchester City to the wire for the Premier League title, before shooting themselves in the foot.

Well, they are hoping that Sunday’s dramatic 3-1 win over Manchester United will send them down that road again, with Hargreaves speaking highly of them.

Newcastle United v Arsenal FC - Premier League

“Look at your wingers (in comparison to Manchester United’s), you have Saka and Martinelli,” said Hargreaves.

“Both players, they go one v one, they can beat anyone in the world. United have wingers, who one v one, they aren’t at their best. They have to come inside. I do think that has an impact on how the team plays.

“I watch Martinelli and Saka. I think ‘wow, those guys are just absolute diamonds’.”

Can Saka and Martinelli go again?

The duo want to become world-class footballers and if they want to reach that tag then, at a minimum, they have to match last season’s performances.

So far, the signs suggest that they will go again, but they will also be playing in the Champions League for the first time in their careers.

This is also an ample chance for the duo to also showcase their worth on club football’s biggest stage because, if they perform in Europe, then their status will sky-rocket even further.
