While praising the recently sworn-in President, Bola Tinubu Ahmed, for his first round of appointments, former River State Governor and PDP member Nyesom Wike gave alleged explanations for why he chose Femi Gbajabiamila to be his chief of staff in an interview with TVC News.
He claimed that the Commander in Chief’s choice of appointees was made because the legislator has communication with the legislature and will, therefore, constantly be aware of any issues inside the administration, and the National Assembly is always present. He continued by stating that there must be someone there with connections to the legislature, and occasionally he can also interact with them.
He concluded by saying that George Akume, the Secretary of the Government of the Federation of Nigeria, was chosen because of his experience in organising all the ports and ministries. He was a former governor, civil officer, and permanent secretary. Finally, he expressed his admiration for their appointments.
