“Giving minutes to Ansu? “I can’t guarantee minutes to anyone,” Xavi said in his interview with Mundo Deportivo.
“When I go to sign a new player, I can’t tell him that you’re going to play forever, I tell them you’re going to compete with X and Y player. This is Barca, not an NGO.
“We will know about our plans next week [for Ansu], we haven’t decided anything with anyone.
“Ansu is a player I really like and he has helped us,” Xavi added.
Asked if he had a fixed XI in mind, Xavi said: “Yes, but it also had Jordi Alba in August. Then Balde emerged and I had to put him instead of Alba because he was better. It would be wrong for me to say that someone will always play.”
Barcelona are prepared to sell Ansu this summer for economic reasons. It’s also clear that the player is not one Xavi relies on.
Fati could command up to €50m in transfer fees if Barca gets a good offer for him.
