The Truth Of The Matter Is That Fuel Subsidy Has Been Removed – Fashola

The Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, has stated that the coming administration of Bola Tinubu does not have any fuel subsidy to remove when it comes into power on May 29th.

 

Babatunde Fashola revealed that the truth of the matter is that fuel subsidy has already been removed by the administration of Muhammadu Buhari.

Speaking further, Babatunde Fashola said that there is a misconception that subsidy will be removed by Bola Tinubu because Nigerians see subsidy only as price, by the truth is that subsidy is policy driven by law and financing.

Babatunde Fashola explained that the 2023 has no subsidy component beyond the month of June and as a matter of policy, the Muhammadu Buhari’s administration has already ended subsidy.

Explaining further, Babatunde Fashola stated that as a matter of law, the Nigerian people has passed a law to end subsidy in June through the petroleum industry act. Babatunde Fashola disclosed that the only thing left for Bola Tinubu’s administration to do is to manage the impact of the subsidy removal.
