I congratulate Man City. They are the champions, they deserved to win – Arteta

Nottingham Forest defeated Arsenal 1-0 on Saturday to end Arsenal’s slim chances of winning the Premier League. Taiwo Awoniyi’s goal gave Nottingham Forest the victory and ensured their place in the top division.

Just two months prior, Mikel Arteta’s club was eight points clear at the top. Since then, however, they have had a dreadful season, with their most recent loss guaranteeing Manchester City’s second consecutive championship.

According to Arteta, He said,”I congratulate Man City. They are the champions, they deserved to win.

He said, “I apologise because we generated the belief that we could do it, but we fell short and that is my responsibility.”

The amazing survival of Steve Cooper’s Nottingham Forest, who narrowly avoided relegation to the Championship last year, was celebrated in contrast to the visitors’ hopelessness when they reached 37 points.

He said, “I can’t believe we kept a clean sheet!” said Cooper after pumping his fist at joyful fans in the packed, sun-kissed City Ground on the banks of the River Trent.

He said,“It’s a day for the players and the supporters. Nobody has given up, and we ultimately succeeded in crossing the finish line. I’m quite happy and proud.

The game changed in the 19th minute when Martin Odegaard, a usually excellent midfielder for Arsenal, made a rare error that allowed Morgan Gibbs-White to advance before passing to Awoniyi, who poked the ball home and sparked frenzied celebrations.

As expected, Arsenal had the majority of the ball but couldn’t convert it into goals. The superb Keylor Navas in goal for the hosts repeatedly denied Gabriel Jesus. Forest played on the counterattack, creating a number of opportunities.

With one game left, the outcome moved Arsenal up to second place with 81 points, while Manchester City now has 85 points with three games left, beginning on Sunday at home against Chelsea.

After a terrible 23-year hiatus, Forest is 16th and six points above the bottom three, guaranteeing them a second season in the Premier League.

As spectators danced in the stands and Cooper raised his fist in celebration at the crowded, sun-kissed stadium on the banks of the River Trent following the game, Gibbs-White told Sky Sports on the pitch.

“The fans have been amazing from the first game to the last. It would not have been feasible without them. By a wide margin, this crowd and these fans are the best in the league.

Joe Worrall, a defender, expressed similar joy: “It’s been a difficult season. So many people take great meaning from this. It’s outstanding in every way. The future looks promising.

Arsenal defender Gabriel reached the ball just in front of Awoniyi but struck it against the striker’s leg before it went past Aaron Ramsdale. Awoniyi, who rediscovered his form just in time for Forest’s key run, had some luck on his side.

Although, among other opportunities, a Felipe shot that deflected wide may have given Forest a bigger win.

And no one could argue that Forest earned their success after using every fiber of their being in recent weeks to pull off a survival that few people outside the city had predicted.

Forest will be hoping that the bonding experience of avoiding relegation will ensure a less terrifying trip for them next time. Forest signed more than two dozen new players this season, at great cost.
