Thierry Henry reacts as Folarin Balogun snubs England, Nigeria for US

Arsenal legend, Thierry Henry has reacted to Folarin Balogun’s decision to snub England and Nigeria as he switches allegiance to the United States of America on international level.

The former England U21 star has decided to play his senior international football with the US instead of England and Henry has backed the move.

Balogun was born in the States, but grew up in England and was also eligible to play for Nigeria.

Henry pointed out that the 21-year-old had little chance of playing for England, a team that has the likes of Harry Kane, Callum Wilson, [Ivan] Toney, Ollie Watkins and Tammy Abraham.

Henry told CBS Sports, “I think it’s a great one [coup] because they [USA]are missing a number 9. Now for him it’s going to be important next season to play.

“We all know for the national team with England he had to battle with Callum Wilson, [Ivan] Toney, Ollie Watkins, Tammy Abraham, Harry Kane.

“He’s a great, great, great player for the US.”
