LaLiga: Xavi tells four Barcelona stars to leave as club plots Messi return

Barcelona boss, Xavi Hernandez wants four first-team players to leave the club, as he plans a clearout to enable the signing of Lionel Messi this summer.

According to Sport, Xavi is going to hold talks with Ferran Torres, Ansu Fati, Franck Kessie and Jordi Alba, informing them that they will not form part of his plans next season.

Messi is expected to leave Paris Saint-Germain when his contract expires next month.

Barca’s attempts may be difficult because of their ongoing financial difficulties.

Messi has an offer from Saudi Arabia on the table from Saudi Arabia, but he prefers to stay in European football.

Barcelona need to reduce their salary outgoings of €600m to €400m for next season in order to register new players and any new contracts.

That figure has already been narrowed by the retirement of Gerard Pique and the exit of Sergio Busquets this summer.
