Barcelona’s title celebration was cut short after Espanyol fans launched an attack on them and it’s definitely not a good one.
Recall that few moments ago Barcelona locked horns with Espanyol in a match said to be the title decider and it was a great outing for Xavi and his men as they won the game 4-2 to cling the trophy. Robert Lewandowski opened the scoreline just 11 minutes into the game and Balde added the 2nd just 9 minutes later. Robert Lewandowski made it 3-0 for the Catalonians in the 40th minutes before Jules Kounde wrapped things up with an emphatic finish few minutes later to hand Barca the La Liga title.
One of the most talked about moment after the game was when some angry Espanyol fans stormed the pitch to halt and disrupt Barcelona’s title celebration. Immediately the fans invaded the pitch, Barcelona players were forced to run into the dressing room for safety.
In the above photo, you could see the Barca players and staffs running towards the dressing room and things doesn’t look good. Few minutes after the invasion, some security men stormed the stadium to ensure that nobody is hurt and fortunately, there have not been any reports of a wounded person at the stadium.
This is not the first time something like this is happening in football and we hope that the football governing body gets to do something about it real quick before it get out of hands. Below are screenshots of some of the reactions from the general public.
