FA Cup: I’m 29 years, I don’t like this position – Maguire tells Ten Hag

It will interest you to note that according to information gathered from Daily Post this evening, Harry Maguire, the captain of Manchester United, has complained to his boss about the supporting position he has been given at the team. After being reinstated to the starting lineup for the Red Devils against Reading on Saturday night, he declared he would not get accustomed to that position.

Erik Ten Hag chose to start the England international against the Royals in the FA Cup fourth round at Old Trafford, which the Red Devils won 3-1. To defeat their guests, the Red Devils used two goals from Casemiro and one from Fred.

For the center-back position, Maguire is up against Raphael Varane, Lisandro Martinez, and Victor Lindelof. The 29-year-old, who has been connected to a transfer away from Old Trafford in January, claims he is not interested in serving as any of those players’ back-up.

“I’m a player, 29-year-old and I haven’t been in this position in my career so it’s a position that I don’t want to get used to it but it’s part of the parcel of football,” said the former Leicester man. I’m working hard every day, I’m pushing, I’m training well, and when my chance comes I need to take it…”
