'That game was the longest game ever': Nemanja Vidic on facing Lionel Messi and Pep Guardiola's Barcelona

On Rio Ferdinand’s YouTube channel Nemanja Vidic was talking about the Champions League final against Barcelona. He mentioned that this game was the longest and the hardest game ever:

“What was the issue actually, they had possession for a long time and obviously Messi is not playing as a striker. He’s playing as a fake striker.”

“He’s actually always in between the defenders in the middle of the park and actually he’s inviting you to go out of your zone so that you can leave the zone so that the wingers can run space behind.”

“And this is what you try to avoid and that questioning your mind as a defender should I go or stay? And I think that game in Rome was the longest game ever.”

Then Ferdinand added:

“I always say we won the league both those years and I never got to enjoy it. Because the final took everything out of you afterwards. It’s crazy and so you’re sitting and you’re thinking like how can we dissect this and you can say what you want.”

“At the end of the day probably it was one of the best if not the best club team ever. I think so.”
