Current La Liga Table After Real Madrid Won 2-0, Villarreal Lost 2-1, and Bilbao Won 2-0

The Spanish La Liga resumed this weekend after a long and interesting mid-week game. Real Madrid and Sevilla are the only La Liga team present in European competition, but both are in a good position to move to the semi-finals after Los Blancos thrashed Chelsea, while Sevilla endured a draw with Manchester United in the Europa League.

Villarreal kicked off the weekend against Real Valladolid at the Estadio de la Ceramica. The home side, unfortunately, went behind in the first half after Selim Amallah’s early goal. Samuel Chukwueze equalized, but the goal was ruled out by the VAR before the away side doubled their lead. Villarreal was able to pull one back, but it was not enough to give them a point.

Athletic Club Bilbao was able to beat their bitter rivals Real Sociedad 2-0. Inaki Williams was the star of the game, as the home side put the sword to the chest of Sociedad. Real Betis on the other hand grabbed a comfortable and crucial three points against Espanyol to boost their hope of qualifying for the Champions League. La Liga champions Real Madrid traveled to Cadiz later in the day.
