Manchester United fans in awe of Casemiro’s actions in the tunnel

Manchester United fans were impressed by the reaction of Brazilian midfielder Casemiro after footage in the tunnel pre-match emerged. United goalkeeper David de Gea was filmed hugging Sevilla No.10 Ivan Rakitic – Casemiro’s former Barcelona rival – before their Europa League quarter-final first-leg match.

The 31-year-old defensive midfielder was signed by Erik Ten Hag towards the end of last summer from Real Madrid and has been a vital part of United’s success this season. Fans have also taken to the Brazilian and were in awe at his unimpressed reaction of De Gea giving his opponent a kind greeting.

One fan commented on Twitter ‘he’s disgusted’, while another commented ‘can tell Casemiro was embarrassed’. Meanwhile, the reaction of Casemiro endeared him to United fans with one adding ‘Casemiro be some guy’ and another Twitter user commented ‘gotta love Casemiro’.

In a season when Ten Hag has rejuvenated the Red Devils former Real Madrid star Casemiro is becoming a fan favourite at Old Trafford. Some fans compared his attitude towards De Gea’s greeting to that of United legend Roy Keane with one fan adding ‘Casemiro has that Roy Keane in him’.

Like Keane the Brazilian wears his heart on his sleeve and hasmissed eight matches through suspension so far this season. The midfielder risked missing the second leg had he picked up another booking against Sevilla on Thursday night.

As well as his bookings the former Real Madrid star has been sent off twice in the Premier League, contributing to seven of the games he has been forced to sit out of. United’s win against Everton was the last of his latest ban and he is set to return to Premier League action on Sunday at Nottingham Forest.

United looked in firm control against Sevilla after a brace of Marcel Sabitzer goals gave them a two-goal advantage at Old Trafford. Casemiro’s gesture after the second goal spoke volumes about the type of mentality the Brazilian star has.

The midfielder urged fans to applaud Martial who had created the second goal with a pin-point pass allowing Sabitzer to score and take the plaudits. Martial has taken some criticism with injuries and inconsistent form resulting in him taking some stick – but Casemiro made sure he was applauded against Sevilla before the Spaniards fought back to claim a shock draw.
