According to Vanguard Newspapers, Destiny Benjamin, a 23-year-old woman, was found dead four days after having the Brazilian Butt Lift, popularly known as a hip replacement, at Cynosure Aesthetic Plastic Surgery in Lagos.
The procedure’s viral footage has been widely disseminated on social media after her death.
Dr. Ogbe Omoruyi, the owner of Cynosure Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, verified the news but denied that the patient passed away in the hospital during the treatment. The
deceased underwent surgery on March 8 and had complained of breathing difficulties before being transferred to the Genesis Specialists Hospital, Ikeja, Lagos, where she passed away, according to Omoruyi, who spoke to Vanguard.
Additionally, Omoruyi—a plastic surgeon—told Vanguard that the dead was 23 years old rather than 20.

“I can prove that everything was good by showing you the case note from our case.
“However, she started experiencing breathing problems after a few days. Before referring her to a critical care unit, which is ten minutes away from our facility, we stabilized her and put her on oxygen.
According to Omoruyi, who talked to Vanguard, the deceased underwent surgery on March 8 and had complained of breathing issues before being moved to the Genesis Specialists Hospital, Ikeja, Lagos, where she passed suddenly.
