Sadio Mane benched again by Thomas Tuchel for Cup clash

Sadio Mane sits on the bench for the second time in a row for Thomas Tuchel’s second game in charge of Bayern Munich as they take on Freiburg in the German Cup tonight.

Mane will have to struggle a lot before being a starter in Tuchel’s team.

The Senegal international was on the bench during the Klassiker over the week-end as Tuchel led his first game.

“Even at his age, it always takes time to acclimate after a change of clubs. That can take time”, Tuchel said during his post-match press conference.

“There’s no doubt about his quality and what it can bring us. It’s about trust and patience so he can get back into the rhythm. A goal usually helps the confidence.

“He scored 20, 30 goals every year for Liverpool and was an absolute key player there. His quality is beyond any doubt,” he added.

However, he is yet to us this quality as he decided to bench Mane again using Choupo-Moting, Leroy Sané, Müller and Kingsley Coman in his attack line against Freiburg in German Cup quarterfinals.
